Well, we tried to freeze bubbles once again today, and although still not what I was aiming for, we did at least have some success this time! There is more learning in scientific failures than immediate successes, right?! ;) We learned that smaller bubbles work better than bigger ones, and that we had to keep them protected from even the slightest breath of air. Mostly, as soon as we would start to see the tiniest bit of crystallization/freezing, the bubble would pop. Seeing them pop in these temperatures was pretty cool, too though - instead of just disappearing, they would send out a little poof of frosty, flaky bubble shards. But, see how these two bubbles are cracked, dented, and broken, but still there? They're frozen...we did it!

Excited to see how the kids explore this mini pumpkin/gourd volcano setup this afternoon! Gourds, seeds, baking soda, and colored vinegar...should be fun!
Need a safe sensory material for a group of toddlers who still like to explore new things with their mouths? OATS are a great option! We have been enjoying scooping, dumping, pouring, piling, sprinkling, pinching, sifting, and measuring oats this morning!
The kids spent a lot of time this past week creating an obstacle course in the yard! The planning, trial & error, teamwork, and of course, large motor work were amazing to watch! #looseparts We have tadpoles!!! How awesome is it that we have acquired our very own tadpole delivery service?!?! Thanks, Heather! We are so excited to watch them grow and change!
Now a full week into 2015, I have so enjoyed looking back on what an amazing year 2014 was! I was blessed enough to spend MANY special moments with some super special kids, and thankful that some of those moments were even preserved on camera. I have chosen my very favorite photos from the past year, and I hope you all will enjoy getting a glimpse of the joy, learning, friendships, and excitement that we have experienced together. As with all photos, what makes them great is the story behind them, so I've added descriptions to some that explain why they are my favorites. Just click the post link to see all the photos!
The crunch of a good leaf pile is definitely my favorite thing about fall! Think back to the best memories you have of your own childhood. I'll bet there's one similar to this on that list. What are some of your other favorite memories of play as a child? Asking yourself that question is a fantastic place to start when thinking of things to do with kids!
